Mentoring

At The Center For The Spiritual Support Of Women Leaders, we know that the age-old tradition of women mentoring women is a critically important cultural process. We encourage mentoring informally as women gather at our soul sabbaticals, and offer it more formally with Robin Rice in Annapolis, MD, or by phone/internet from anywhere in the world.

Robin's work as a mentor to women leaders came as a natural continuation of her own inner journey:

"To find something utterly precious in this life, to hold on to it without crushing it or caging it or molding it to your will, and to know this precious thing as your true self—this is success.

My childhood was filled with profound tragedy as well as "otherworldly" spiritual gifts. In those early years, I was not able to hold both, and so the gifts were set aside. Later, when it seemed I would not survive this life without a deeper spiritual connection, I again opened to my true purpose. Mentors came to me, at first in books, then in teaching dreams, and after many years, finally, in human form.

My first personal mentor blew me away. Salome would not allow me to dismiss any part of myself or my journey. She helped me piece together so many incongruencies, and to live with the pieces that would likely never fit. Though at first it was difficult to imagine anything would come of it, soon it became obvious that something of real value was emerging.

Who could have believed inner peace and a sense of one's own innate beauty was possible in a world such as this, especially after a life of so much pain and confusion? It was not long before I found my inner personal growth was extending into areas of my outer life, from my work life and physical health, to my love life and relationship with my children. In short, when I became able to embrace all the incongruent parts of myself, the rest of my life naturally came into a beautiful embrace.

Today, my task is to walk between the worlds of a deeply spiritual life and my "real-world, business as usual" life, while helping others create that same sense of congruency, peace and beauty—without dismissing anything. On the one hand, it seems an impossible task. On the other, it is my mandate, so there is nothing to be done but to get on with it. Like my work with Salome, it is obvious that something of real value is coming of it."

About Robin

Robin Rice sold her first book before graduating college. A quarter of a century later, her work is published in three languages and distributed in nine countries. While her early career focused on non-fiction works, today she writes literary fiction.

Robin has studied a wide variety of alternative healing modalities, yet her most valued education has come from indigenous healers living around the globe. It is this education that she models in her healing practice as a contemporary shaman and shamanic teacher.

Robin offers mentoring to women leaders in demanding phases of personal growth, which may include such significant life transitions as motherhood, career changes, spiritual awakening, burnout, loss of a partner, caring for elders or their own "eldering" process. She also works with women who feel stuck, even paralyzed, and unsure of where to find what is meaningful. Her approach is intuitive, visionary, and yet fully grounded in the very real demands of everyday living. With a gentle but profound faith in the potential of women leaders to transform the world, Robin seeks to offer a genuine companion for the journey.
